I qualified as a doctor today
I am away working in the Lakes and had to go and sit in the toilet to read the results email!
I haven't told anyone yet because just for today, I wanted to let it sink in. Am now listening to the song that give me the courage to do medicine and am happy happy happy that I did.

I had the pleasure of discovering your blog about 2 weeks ago, and have read it all! :D
After everything you have had to deal with I couldn't think of a better outcome - your Dad must be very proud.
You are an absolute inspiration! You have inspired me I can tell you that! I'm only a Support Worker in Theatres at a Paediatric Hospital and would love to, one day, study Medicine and become a Doctor. I think if you put your mind to it you can do anything!
Congratulations!
Well Done, have just found your blog and I appreciated your post on your finals
Yay! I'm so glad you did it! As a newly qualified nurse hoping to take the plunge to become a doc soon, this gives me great hope!!
Hi! I was hoping for some advice. I'm just finishing my first year as a nursing student, but I've realized my future goal is to get into medical school. Should I finish my 4 year degree? Or start over as a Biochemistry major (which would include all the pre-req's for med school)? Can you email me your advice at cassandra_laurie@hotmail.com Thanks!
well done sugar pie all the best
Hi! I did feel the triumph as I was reading through your blog. Just discovered your blog and you are our a great inspiration.. thanks for sharing your experience. I am 21 years old and a registred nurse somewhere in Asia. I have my big abroad nursing career in mind but currently Im enrolled in training program in a tertiary government hospital where doctors are few. I've seen number of patients slipping from health care's hands due to lack of man power and resources. I have always wanted to be a doctor, I hope I could be like you, compassionate nurse-doctor.....
Congratulations. When you stopped updating your blog I thought that you had given up on it so removed it from my blog roll. However, by chance I came across it again today and have read the news that you have passed your finals. You should be really proud of yourself, but remember the hard work is only just beginning.
Congrats. Don't let them bully you. Stick to your principles.

Congratulations! I'm sorry I didn't get to read this post earlier. You will be a great doc :)

Firstly- really well done!
Secondly- you are the only person (well, in the category of people)who can answer this question- why did you decide to be a doctor? Because I've wanted to do medicine my whole life- but now that I've done a lot of work experience and been in hospital myself I'm not entirely sure it is what I want to do! I don't want to swan in, poke the patients, throw some drugs at them and then leave! I want to be there, build a relationship with them while they are there and actually care for them. However, I don't think I'd deal to well with being told what to do..
thats soooooooo cooooooool
Congratualtions!!!
I cant wait for that moment!
I am following you...
Hello Doctor,
I was curious to know about your journey to medical school. Did you start your career from a nurse?
I am a nurse ,aspiring to be a doctor.I would be so thankful to you if you can guide me the way to medical school.God bless you.
Gongratz ... I found your blog today, while procrastinating :p ... and it's really cool to see someone's graduation .., inspiring !!! I'm at the beginning of the road :p
have a look at my blog if u had time :)
this was so interesting to look at! This has really inspired me to know that it is always possible to do things that look impossible.
What advice would you give to a 20 year old who would love to be a doctor and think she is capable. But hates the look of chemistry so thinks nursing would be the best route. I am good at remembering things , but chemistry clams me up.

I got your comment on my blog, I hope your little dog is OK. Please let me know the outcome. I believe your dog has licked the advocate from the sound of things.
I don't know how else to contact you so am adding another post to your blog. I was so sad to receive your second message and I am so very sorry for your loss. With love from a fellow dog lover x

I am a writer and am currently in the process of developing a story about a nurse who retrained as a doctor. I was wondering whether or not it would be possible to talk to you further to research more about this?
Many thanks

Hey there, congratulations! Its so exciting to finally graduate isn't it. I am a medical student, doing my final year. I will be sitting for my professional exam this January. 2months from now. Greetings from Germany
Well done my friend. Were so proud of you and to your achievements as well.
First off, congratulations!!! I barely came across your blog as I was in search of information of nurses becoming doctors. How has residency been? What made you want to take this path and do a switch in careers? What is your opinion on Nurse Practitioners? (My ultimate goal, if MD doesn't work). Currently, I am in a RN-BSN program and will be done next May. Just recently I have been giving this topic a lot of thought. Your experience through it is quite inspiring. Would you mind providing some insight on the stpes to take? Or perhaps I should finish reading the rest of yor blogs and find my answers there, haha. I was afraid that it might be too late for me to pursue this, but it looks like I'm wrong! Congrats again!
You are an inspiration!! I am currently in my final year of nursing study in New Zealand. I hope to study medicine some day in the near future. Thank you for sharing your journey through med school :)
I never thought merging from nurse to doctor was even possible, though I have given it a thought once or twice. Iam about to begin a career in health and becoming an RN is my ultimate goal. And I read that RN can go on to become doctors! I was like WOW that sounds like the ultimate challenge! I stumbled across your blog by accident and its given me inspiration :) Congratulations by the way xx
Congratulations! I have thought that merging from RN to Doc was impossible, but you have proved me wrong. You must be an extreme goal getter :D Your accounts from nurse to dr. I find humurous and inspiring. Iam about to embark on a nursing career and possibly, maybe, if I can still dare :P to seek out becoming a Dr. That sounds like the ultimate challenge non? Thankyou for making my day xx

I did the same thing as you only I qualified as a doctor in 1993. I notice you haven't written much since then. Are you still glad you made it? Now the really hard slog begins. Good luck.
Wow! Congratulations to you. You deserve this.
Cheers,

Hi. Congratulation. I came across your blog while researching about doctors and nurses. I'm a 3rd year in college, and I'm having a hard time choosing medical school or nursing school. Since you were a nurse and now a doctor, can you give me some advice? It would be greatly appreciated!!
I came across your blog a few months ago now and have found myself pleasantly surprised by how many nurses there are out there hoping to become doctors in the future.
I am about to start my Adult Nursing degree in September and wish to do the GEP in Medicine once I finish. I enrolled to do to the Access to Nursing in 2011 after a life changing moment that I experienced with my grandfather.
Reading your blog has been an inspiration to me, as I felt somewhat alone in the idea that I could become a doctor myself. I did pretty well in school but flopped my A-levels (probably due to those raging hormonal changes in the teen years) however the Access course has shown me how far I can push myself to be the best. Every time I feel that I cannot do something I am reminded by your blog and your achievements. Thank you so much for posting your experiences through med school. I doubt you check this blog anymore ( busy doc n'all that) but if you ever have the time to e-mail me I would love to ask you a few questions. Congratulations again!
